A Question of Conscience and Law — Updated Petition

I am writing to you not as a partisan, but as a constituent deeply troubled by the direction of American foreign policy and its entanglement in a conflict that is increasingly difficult to defend in practical, moral, or legal terms. At a time when America is facing real economic setbacks, welding another foreign policy disaster through the IDF‑Pentagon merger will be a stab in the back of every American.

The merger is not law yet. It is still in conference — still alive, still stoppable. That is why I am writing. You still have time to do the right thing. The question is whether you will use it. Don't assume that you can get away with more cosmetic press releases that contradict the overwhelming modern information avalanche.

The State of Israel, backed by billions of dollars in unconditional American aid, is committing acts that more than meet the legal definition of genocide daily. This is obvious and undeniable in the modern age of communication. The destruction of Gaza's civilian infrastructure, the deliberate starvation and murder of its population, and the systematic destruction of its healthcare and educational systems are not accidents of war. They are a policy — one that the International Court of Justice and multiple human rights organizations have condemned.

The attacks by Israel on Syria and Lebanon are acts of conquest and expansionism that Americans are expected to pay for as a direct result of this legislation. I do not want my country to follow Israel on its path to more disaster. Already we are fighting their war in Iran. The war in Iran does nothing for Americans, but it does for Israelis. Wrapping it up in flags and calling it patriotism is a lie. Think of it this way: you have Donald Trump as your biggest advocate, and he is remarkably silent on this merger. How do you suppose this is going to turn out? How is Mr. Trump turning out? How's the war in Iran turning out?

Of greater significance, the whole world is in agreement, and you cannot pretend otherwise. To do so only damages your own credibility. Facing cameras and pretending that this is not a genocide is an act of self‑destruction on your part. Both Americans and the rest of the world are well aware of what is happening. You are doing this to yourself. History is already writing the chapter. The question is whether you will be remembered as the one who saw the truth or the one who chose to ignore it, hold hands with Israelis and jump off a cliff. You shouldn't expect Americans to approve, vote for, or pay for any of this. We haven't forgotten Afghanistan. That was supposed to be a short war too.

Despite widespread public opposition, the House bill supporting the IDF‑Pentagon merger was passed. It was rushed through before meaningful opposition could be organized. It was embedded in the FY2027 NDAA, meant to permanently integrate the U.S. and Israeli militaries. This was always a conspiracy to get this stinker through without debate or a floor vote. This is not a defense treaty. It is a back door path to transfer American sovereignty to a foreign power, embedding the U.S. military in Israel's wars and shielding Israeli actions from any meaningful congressional oversight. It bypasses the constitutional requirement for treaties to be debated in the open and voted on by accountable senators. It will create a permanent, unaccountable alliance that serves the interests of a foreign state, not the American people.

The fight is not over. The merger is only planned to be implemented, and implementation can still be challenged. I am calling on you to:

• Demand full congressional hearings on the implementation of the IDF‑Pentagon merger embedded in the NDAA, including all communications between the Pentagon and the Israeli government.

• Demand the bill be stripped out of the NDAA.

• Cosponsor legislation to repeal the IDF‑Pentagon merger and restore congressional authority over U.S. military entanglements.

• Oppose any appropriations that fund the IDF‑Pentagon merger.

• Support accountability for Israel's violations of international law, including the use of U.S.‑supplied weapons in attacks on civilian targets.

• Vote NO on any additional military aid to Israel.

• Support legislation that would require congressional approval for any future U.S. military involvement in Israeli-led operations.

This is not about being "anti‑Israel." It is about being pro‑law, pro‑accountability, and pro‑American sovereignty. The American people are waking up to the reality of what is being done in our name. We know we are being lied to. We can't help but notice, as we are paying for it. I hope you will hear us before history judges you. And history will judge you. Think about how Americans have come to regard Dallas '63. Do you really want to be in that place?
